Gospel Singer Timileyin Ajayi Pleads Not Guilty To Salome Adaidu’s Murder

Timileyin Ajayi, the gospel singer accused of murdering Salome Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the police.

Ajayi was arraigned before Justice Simeon Aboki at Court 2 in Lafia on Monday on a charge of culpable homicide punishable by death.

Following the court proceedings, the Officer-in-Charge of Legal Affairs at the Nasarawa State Police Command, Stanley Nwaforagu, assured journalists that the police are committed to ensuring justice is served despite the defendant’s plea.

“Ajayi was duly arraigned today, January 27, 2025, and has pleaded not guilty. The court has scheduled the trial for March 17 to 20, with the intent of expediting proceedings,” Nwaforagu stated.

He expressed confidence that the prosecution has overwhelming evidence to sustain the charge against Ajayi.

Meanwhile, Ajayi’s counsel, Joseph Tukur, emphasized his commitment to defending his client, asserting that the prosecution must prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.

“Today’s proceedings were for arraignment, and we have now set a date for hearing. We are prepared to follow due process,” Tukur said.

The court has adjourned the case until March for the commencement of the trial.
