One Dead, Groom Hospitalized As Bride Allegedly Poisons Wedding Food in Jigawa

A wedding celebration in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State took a tragic turn when the bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception.

The incident left one guest dead and the groom critically ill.

Speaking on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the case and disclosed that two suspects, including the bride and another female, have been arrested. The suspects are currently being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.

“All attendees who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for one who unfortunately passed away,” Adam said, assuring the public that justice would be pursued.

While the motive remains unclear, eyewitnesses speculated that the bride’s actions might have been fueled by personal grievances. The police are investigating the incident to uncover the circumstances and motives behind the poisoning.

Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the deceased, the groom, or other affected individuals. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
