Nigerian singer Rolex Dee has reportedly regained his freedom after spending more than three months in detention over an alleged defamation case involving Fuji musician Taye Currency.
His release was announced on Tuesday by MC Bokujaka, who had spearheaded an online campaign calling for the musician’s freedom.
In a series of videos shared on social media, MC Bokujaka confirmed that Rolex Dee had been released, bringing relief to his family, friends and supporters who had been following the case.
In one of the videos, the singer was seen lying on a bed in a hotel room, asking MC Bokujaka not to record him.
Reacting to the development in an Instagram post, MC Bokujaka described the release as welcome news for those who had continued to demand the singer’s freedom.
“ROLEX DEE has been released! Finally, the news many Nigerians have been waiting for! This is a moment of relief for his family, friends, supporters, and everyone who has been calling for his release,” he wrote.
He added that the case had generated widespread discussions and controversy, expressing hope that all parties involved would be able to move forward peacefully.
Rolex Dee was initially arrested in April 2026 over allegations that he defamed Taye Currency during an interview on the Agbaletu programme.
The singer was subsequently released but was reportedly rearrested in early July after operatives of the Oyo State Police Command allegedly lured him from Lagos under the pretext of a reconciliation meeting.
His release comes nearly two months after a court reportedly granted him bail in the sum of N100 million.
The circumstances surrounding his latest release have not been fully detailed.
The case has attracted attention on social media, with supporters campaigning for the singer’s freedom during his period in detention.
