Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has submitted several songs and his latest album, ‘Oriade’, for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
The submissions span multiple categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Global Music Album and Best African Music Performance.
The Grammy Guru disclosed the development in a post on its X account, drawing attention to the singer’s latest bid for recognition at the prestigious international music awards.
Davido’s sixth studio album, ‘Oriade’, was reportedly submitted in four categories: Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Album Cover.
His song ‘B4 B4’, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, was entered for consideration in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance categories.
Another collaboration, ‘Nakupenda’, featuring TxC, Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo, was submitted for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
Davido’s ‘Le Show’, featuring Ayra Starr and French Montana, was also entered for Best African Music Performance, while ‘I Know Who I Be’, featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, was submitted for Best Music Video.
The reported entries come as the Recording Academy’s first-round voting for the 2027 Grammy Awards runs from October 12 to October 22.
The nominees for the 69th edition of the awards are expected to be announced on November 16, while the ceremony is scheduled for February 7, 2027.
Davido previously earned Grammy nominations at the 66th edition in 2024 for his album ‘Timeless’ and songs ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Feel’.
The latest submissions underscore the continued push by Nigerian musicians to gain wider international recognition and compete for honours at one of the world’s most prominent music award ceremonies.
However, submission for consideration does not guarantee a nomination, as the final nominees will be determined through the Recording Academy’s voting process.
