Sharon Ademefun, the elder sister of Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed how she helps manage her brother’s finances and encourages him to exercise restraint when spending on luxury items.
Ademefun, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Davido Music Worldwide, said she holds regular financial meetings with the singer to review how his money is being spent and make decisions aimed at maintaining financial discipline.
Speaking on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, she said she often tells Davido to slow down on purchasing expensive cars, jewellery and other luxury items.
According to her, Davido sometimes ignores her warnings and proceeds with purchases, leaving her to discover the latest acquisitions through reports on entertainment blogs.
Ademefun explained that her involvement in Davido’s career dates back to its early stages, when she was part of his management team. She said their current professional relationship developed naturally from years of working together.
She also acknowledged that their roles have sometimes resulted in disagreements, saying she is willing to confront her brother when she believes something needs to be addressed.
Ademefun said her business experience now allows her to help introduce greater structure into Davido’s professional operations.
She further revealed that she had signed a non-disclosure agreement and therefore could not disclose details about the singer’s wealth.
The financial executive also spoke about Davido’s travel arrangements, explaining that she sometimes has to intervene when attempts to reduce costs could affect his comfort or the quality of his travel.
She said there had been occasions when Davido arrived at an airport and requested a better first-class arrangement, forcing her to purchase another ticket.
Beyond her role in Davido’s business affairs, Ademefun discussed her own fashion business, Body Politics. She said the clothing brand was created partly in response to the limited options available to women across different body sizes.
According to her, the brand offers clothing ranging from XXS to 5XL. She said her immediate focus was to improve the existing business rather than expand too quickly, with plans for more pop-ups and wider availability.
