Ladoja Denies Withdrawing Bola Ige’s Case, Accuses Akande Of Lying

Former Oyo State Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has refuted claims by former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, regarding the unresolved assassination of Chief Bola Ige, stating, “Chief Akande lied against me.”

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Ibadan, Ladoja dismissed Akande’s suggestion that he had key information about Ige’s murder.

He clarified that Bola Ige was assassinated in December 2001, while he became governor 18 months later, in May 2003.

“I didn’t withdraw the case. My government didn’t withdraw any case. The case even went to the Supreme Court. Chief Akande lied against me, and this is not his first time,” Ladoja stated.

He emphasized his close relationship with Bola Ige and expressed deep concern over his murder.

Over the weekend, Akande had raised fresh concerns about Ige’s assassination, suggesting that Ladoja might have valuable insights into the case.

Ladoja, however, dismissed these claims, pointing out that even other political figures have accused Akande of making false statements in the past.

The case remains one of Nigeria’s most controversial political assassinations, with no definitive resolution decades later.
