Why Mo Bimpe Was Skeptical About Marrying Me – Lateef Adedimeji

Actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji recently opened up about his unconventional proposal to his wife, Bimpe Oyebade-Adedimeji, during an interview with Chude.

He shared the amusing story of how his phone proposal left Mo Bimpe in disbelief.

According to Lateef, Bimpe initially dismissed his proposal as a joke, citing concerns about their differing religious backgrounds.

“I called her and told her I wanted to marry her. She laughed it off, saying, ‘What’s wrong with you? I can’t marry a Muslim; my dad won’t even approve,’” Lateef recounted.

Despite her reservations, Lateef was determined to win over her family. He visited her village during a masquerade festival and met with her father to seek his blessing.

“I assured her dad that I would take care of his daughter. He said he’d pray about it and get back to me. Thankfully, he eventually gave his approval,” he said.

Lateef also revealed that the couple dated secretly for just three months before deciding to get married in December 2021.

Their union included a traditional ceremony in Ekiti State and a Nikkai ceremony in Lagos State.

The couple had previously denied being romantically involved before their wedding, but Lateef’s account sheds new light on their whirlwind love story.
