Troops Storm Bello Turji’s Camp, Neutralize Terrorist Leader Sani Rusu In Zamfara

In a decisive operation against terrorist activities, troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Hadarin Daji, launched an assault on the notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji’s camp and other hideouts in Zamfara State.  

The operation, carried out on January 4, 2025, resulted in the neutralization of the infamous terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, in Bamamu Village, Tsafe Local Government Area, alongside the recovery of significant arms and ammunition.  

Several terrorists, including Sani Rusu, were killed, while others sustained injuries during the operation.  

Troops seized one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 3 magazines, and 3 motorcycles.

The air force targeted terrorist hideouts in Shinkafi LGA, including a December 30, 2024, strike that disrupted a meeting led by Turji.    

On January 2 and 5, 2025, aerial and ground operations were conducted in Sububu Forest and Chida areas of Shinkafi LGA, leading to heavy casualties among Turji’s fighters.

Surveillance confirmed extensive damage to their camps and hideouts.  

Lt. Col. Abdullahi Abubakar, spokesperson for the 1 Brigade, assured the public that Operation Hadarin Daji remains committed to neutralizing all terrorist threats and restoring peace to the region. 

He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in achieving these goals.  

The military urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring security in Zamfara and beyond.
