Residents Flee Zamfara Communities Amid Threats from Bandit Kingpin Turji

Following threats from notorious bandit leaders, bello Turji,residents of Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State have begun fleeing their communities.

A resident from one of the affected communities shared with journalists in Gusau, the state capital, that Turji and his gang have made life in Shinkafi LGA and along the road connecting Isa in Sokoto increasingly unbearable.

Turji had issued an ultimatum to the Nigerian government, demanding the release of his in-law, who was arrested by security forces in Shinkafi.

 He threatened to resume violent attacks in the region if his demand was not met.

Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, also expressed concern, noting that Turji has already begun carrying out his threats. He cited a recent attack on the Jangeru-Cheki road, where several people were killed, and many vehicles were set ablaze.
