Portable Skips Ibadan Concert Amid Backlash Over PoP Comments

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was absent at a New Year concert in Ibadan on Thursday, January 2, 2025, organized by Fuji star Taye Currency.

The absence followed backlash from comments Portable made last year during a dispute with his former lover, Queen Dami.

In a viral video, Portable mocked Ibadan and Oyo residents for allegedly not having buildings adorned with Plaster of Paris (PoP) ceilings, a feature he claimed was common in Lagos and other areas.

Despite apologizing to Ibadan residents for his remarks, Portable’s comments sparked widespread outrage.

Portable was expected to perform at the concert, but Jarule Entertainment, the event’s organizer, revealed that security concerns led to his exclusion.
