Burna Boy Addresses Lagos Countdown Stage Incident: “Respect My Boundaries”

Music superstar Burna Boy has spoken out about the controversy surrounding his performance at the 2025 Lagos Countdown concert, where he was seen kicking a fan who tried to touch him on stage.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the Grammy-winning artist explained his reaction, attributing it to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which makes him sensitive to unexpected movements during performances.

“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing,” Burna Boy wrote.

The African Giant singer also emphasized the importance of respecting his personal space, warning fans to avoid sudden approaches while he is on stage.

“I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year,” he added.

The Lagos Countdown concert, which featured performances from stars like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Seyi Vibez, was a high-energy celebration. However, the incident has reignited discussions about artists’ boundaries and fan interactions during live performances.
