JUST IN: El-Rufai Fires Back At Reno Omokri, Labels Him as ‘Political Mercenary’

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has responded to recent criticisms from Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of being a “political mercenary.”  

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), El-Rufai described Omokri as part of an “interesting lifecycle,” accusing him of switching loyalties to serve those who offer the highest reward.  

El-Rufai’s remarks are the latest in a heated exchange between the two, following Omokri’s critique of the ex-governor’s stance on the Federal Government’s funding of Lagos State’s rail project.

Omokri, who had previously aligned with the opposition and served as a spokesperson for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 elections, shifted his support to President Bola Tinubu after the polls. El-Rufai also referenced Omokri’s history of attacking Tinubu, sharing images of Omokri protesting in London and referring to the President as a “drug baron.”  

“The interesting lifecycle of Wendell Simlin, also sometimes retained as a political mercenary by any person or government that can pay,” El-Rufai posted, using the controversial pseudonym allegedly linked to Omokri in the past.
