Presidency Assures No Leadership Vacuum Despite Tinubu, Shettima’s Absence

The Presidency has assured Nigerians that there is no leadership vacuum despite the absence of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima from the country. 

President Tinubu is currently on a two-week working leave in the United Kingdom, while Vice President Shettima is in Sweden for a two-day visit, representing Nigeria in bilateral discussions.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that both leaders remain fully engaged in the nation’s affairs, even while abroad. 

He also noted that state organs continue to function smoothly, with key officials, including the Senate President and Service Chiefs, ensuring the government’s operations proceed as normal.

Onanuga highlighted that the Constitution allows for remote leadership in the digital age, ensuring that government business continues uninterrupted. Tinubu is expected to return before his vacation officially ends.
