Peter Obi Opens Up On VP Role, Ready To Support Capable Leader

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and ex-governor of Anambra State, has revealed his openness to a vice presidential role if he finds someone more capable of leading the country.

In a recent interview, Obi stressed that his primary goal is to ensure Nigeria’s advancement in the upcoming 2027 general election.

When queried about the possibility of running for vice president, Obi stated, “I’m not desperate for the presidency, but I’m determined to see Nigeria succeed. If I encounter someone better suited to the role, I’ll consider being vice president.”

While Obi remains loyal to the Labour Party, he has expressed willingness to collaborate with others who share his vision. He emphasized that any alliance must be grounded in a shared commitment to addressing critical issues such as education and the high rate of out-of-school children.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has initiated an investigation into Obi and other prominent figures, including Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo, over allegations of campaign fund mismanagement during the 2023 election. The party’s factional National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, accused Obi and his associates of diverting over N12 billion and $15 million intended for the presidential campaign, labeling Obi a “political profiteer.”
