Protest: I Didn’t ask MTN, Airtel to Tamper With Network – Minister

Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has refuted claims that he instructed telecommunications companies to intentionally slow down network speeds amid nationwide protests.

As protests began on Thursday, many Nigerians took to social media to report unusually slow internet browsing speeds on MTN, Airtel, and other networks, sparking speculation about government interference.

However, Tijani clarified on Channels TV that no such directive was given to tamper with network services.

Earlier, he condemned the vandalism of the National Communication Commission’s office in Kano State, warning that it would hinder efforts to promote youth employment through technology.
