Kebbi Reopens Schools Monday After Security Shutdown

The Kebbi State Government has ordered all public and private primary and secondary schools to resume for the second term on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The directive was issued on Friday by the State Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education to ensure continuity of the 2025/2026 academic calendar.

Schools had earlier been closed following the abduction of 25 students in Zuru, but authorities say conditions now permit resumption.

The first week of the term will be used to conduct outstanding first-term examinations, while full academic activities will begin on Monday, January 12.

The government warned that monitoring teams will be deployed to ensure strict compliance with the resumption and examination timetable.
