Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval To Raise 2025 Budget To N54.2trn

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to approve an increase in the 2025 national budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

The request was presented on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the plenary session.

Akpabio explained that the additional funds would be sourced from:N1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service N1.8 trillion from other government-owned agencies

The proposal has been referred to the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations for review.

Akpabio assured lawmakers that deliberations would be concluded, and the budget passed before the end of February.
