FG Promises New National Air Carrier, Airport Upgrades

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that a new national air carrier will commence operations soon, alongside plans to upgrade airports nationwide to international standards. 

This announcement was made by the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Abubakar Kana, during the ministry’s handing-over ceremony.

Kana emphasized his commitment to actualizing the national air carrier, in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda for the aviation sector.  

“We must embrace the private sector to support Nigeria’s aviation industry due to scarce resources,” Kana stated. 

He also expressed his unwavering support for the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, in achieving these objectives.  

Outgoing Permanent Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Meribole urged the ministry’s staff to maintain collaboration and teamwork, emphasizing the continuity of civil service. 

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s aviation development and highlighted the need for stakeholders to remain steadfast in making the country’s aviation sector the best in Africa.  

The ceremony included the handover of strategic documents, assets, and liabilities to Kana, marking a new chapter for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.  

The renewed commitment to Nigeria Air follows controversies surrounding the project, with Kana vowing to ensure its success.
