Court Nullifies APC Congresses In Rivers

Justice Godswill Obomanu delivered the ruling, setting aside the congress that resulted in the emergence of Chief Tony Okocha as the state chairman of the party. 

This decision followed a contempt proceeding initiated by a faction of the APC led by Chief Emeka Beke.  

Earlier, the court had issued an order halting the conduct of the congresses. However, the APC proceeded with the exercise, prompting the Beke-led faction to return to the court with the enrolled order and file a contempt case against the party.  

After hearing arguments and submissions from both factions, Justice Obomanu declared the congresses invalid.
