Bobrisky: FG Suspends Officers Over Alleged Preferential Treatment In Custodial Center

The Federal Government has suspended key officers overseeing the Maximum and Medium Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State, following an audio leak that revealed cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was given special treatment. 

Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail, was reportedly housed in an apartment outside the facility.

The dismissal was disclosed by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja. 

Recall that Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, launched an investigation into the claims on Wednesday. 

However, Ahmed clarified that the officers were suspended to allow for further investigation, promising that the findings will be made public.

The officers suspended include Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri. Additionally, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna from Afikpo, Ebonyi State, and another senior officer, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu from Kuje, Abuja, were also suspended for unrelated infractions involving inmates.
