Nigerian Navy Inaugurates Security Station To Combat Oil Theft In Ondo State

In a bid to bolster security and safeguard critical oil infrastructure, the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Igbokoda, Ondo State, has inaugurated a new security station aimed at curbing oil theft in the region.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, presided over the inauguration, emphasizing the strategic importance of the base’s location to counter oil theft and other criminal activities in the Niger Delta. 

Oil-producing communities in Ondo State have long faced challenges related to illegal oil bunkering. 

However, the efforts of the FOB Igbokoda have significantly reduced these criminal activities. 

Rear Admiral Hassan noted that the new security station is crucial due to its proximity to oil fields and will enhance the Navy’s capacity to combat crude oil theft in the area.

Captain Alushe, Commanding Officer of the Forward Operating Base, reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to doubling efforts in tackling oil theft. 

The Nigerian Navy reiterated its dedication to maintaining high professionalism in its ongoing fight against illegal oil bunkering.
