AFCON Qualifiers: Eguavoen Retains Appointment; Madugu To Lead Super Falcons

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the continuation of Coach Augustine Eguavoen as Head Coach of the Super Eagles for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya next month. 

Eguavoen, 58, who has previously led the team on three occasions, guided the Super Eagles to a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and a draw with Rwanda in their opening AFCON qualifiers this month.

The NFF also confirmed that Eguavoen, alongside Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec, will oversee the Super Eagles B team during their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying campaign.

However, the NFF also approved Coach Justin Madugu to head the Super Falcons’ technical crew following the departure of Coach Randy Waldrum. 

Madugu will lead the team in preparation for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next summer, pending the appointment of a new head coach.
