The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as chairman, with presidential candidate Peter Obi and vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso occupying key positions.
Under the new arrangement, Obi will serve as co-chairman, while Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, will serve as vice-chairman alongside the party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe.
The party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, was named council secretary, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim will serve as Director-General.
The NDC announced the appointments in a statement, saying the council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise Nigerians behind its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”
The party said the campaign would focus on people-centred policies and issue-based engagements as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
In a related development, the NDC named Dr Yunusa Tanko as Political Adviser to the presidential candidate for the North and Ms Eunice Atuejide as Political Adviser for the South.
According to the party, the appointments were among the names submitted by its presidential candidate.
The party also disclosed that the composition of campaign directorates, committees and local government campaign officers was being finalised in consultation with stakeholders across the states.
It said the remaining appointments would be announced shortly.
The NDC called on its members, supporters and Nigerians to remain united and focused as it pursues its ambition of winning the 2027 general elections.
