Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has paid an emotional tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi, on what would have been the child’s seventh birthday.
The singer took to social media on Tuesday to remember his son, who was born on October 20, 2019, to Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke.
In a touching message, the music star expressed the family’s enduring love for the child, noting that both parents continued to miss him.
“Happy birthday son …. Me and mommy miss and love you! Keep flying high,” Davido wrote.
The heartfelt message drew attention to the family’s continuing remembrance of Ifeanyi, whose death in October 2022 shocked fans and the entertainment industry.
Ifeanyi died on October 31, 2022, at the age of three, following a drowning incident at a swimming pool.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the cause of death after an autopsy was conducted on the child.
The then police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the findings, stating that the autopsy showed that the boy had drowned.
His death prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, fellow entertainers and public figures, many of whom sent messages of sympathy and support to Davido and Chioma.
Davido’s latest tribute serves as another public remembrance of his son, whose birthday continues to hold deep emotional significance for the family.
Despite the passage of time, the singer’s message reflects the enduring bond between parents and a child they have lost, as he and Chioma continue to honour Ifeanyi’s memory.
