Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Alaire Asuoha, popularly known as Realwarripikin, has described her 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) Best Stand-Up Comedian award as a major recognition of her journey and a motivation to aim for bigger opportunities.
Realwarripikin emerged winner in the comedy category at the ceremony held in Dallas, Texas, beating other nominees including Basketmouth, Bovi, Godfrey, Eric Omondi, Trevor Noah, Patrick “Salvado” Idringi and Ty Ngachira.
Speaking about the recognition, the comedian said the award represented years of hard work, persistence and consistently showing up throughout her career.
She said being recognised as Best Comedian at AFRIMMA while representing Nigeria and Africa was a significant honour and proof that staying authentic and connecting with audiences through personal experiences can open new opportunities.
Realwarripikin, who has built a career spanning stand-up comedy, acting and digital content, said the award has further encouraged her to expand her brand and pursue opportunities on bigger platforms.
According to her, the recognition is not an indication to slow down but a motivation to work harder and set bigger goals.
She also revealed that her next major milestone is a London show scheduled for November 28 at Indigo at The O2. She added that other projects and events are also being planned.
Known for her Warri-inspired humour, energetic performances and distinctive delivery, Realwarripikin initially gained attention through comedy skits and social media content before expanding into stand-up comedy and acting.
Her AFRIMMA recognition adds to her growing profile within Nigeria’s comedy and entertainment industry, particularly across stand-up, digital content and live performances.
The 2026 AFRIMMA ceremony also recognised several other Nigerian entertainers. Davido won Album of the Year for 5ive, while Tems and Ruger received the Best Female West Africa and Best Male West Africa awards respectively.
Phyno won Best Male Rap Act, Fola was named Best Newcomer, Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel, while DJ Tunez received the Best DJ Africa award.
Founded in Dallas in 2014, AFRIMMA celebrates music and entertainment talents from Africa and the diaspora across various regions, genres and entertainment categories.
