The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has graduated the first cohort of about 250 participants trained under the National Agricultural Mechanisation Service Providers (NAMSP) Training Programme, in a move aimed at strengthening technical capacity and improving the sustainability of mechanised farming across Nigeria.

The 10-day training programme was organised by NADF in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, AGCOMS, relevant institutions and private-sector partners.

The programme focused on equipping participants with practical skills required to deliver efficient and reliable agricultural mechanisation services, while addressing critical gaps in machinery management, maintenance, occupational safety and agribusiness development.

The initiative is expected to expand the pool of skilled mechanisation service providers capable of supporting farmers with timely access to modern agricultural machinery and technical services.

Through the training, participants were exposed to best practices in machinery operation and maintenance, safety standards and enterprise management, with the broader objective of reducing machinery downtime and improving the productivity and sustainability of mechanised agricultural operations.

The graduation of the first 250 participants marks an important step in the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen agricultural mechanisation and build a more efficient service-delivery ecosystem capable of supporting increased food production across the country.

NADF said the programme would contribute to the development of a stronger technical workforce while creating opportunities for participants to establish and operate sustainable mechanisation service enterprises.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s agricultural sector, improve farmers’ access to mechanisation and strengthen the value chain through private-sector participation.
