The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has set a new revenue record after collecting ₦28.1 billion in a single day, the highest daily revenue ever recorded by the Command.
The Command generated ₦28,102,000,914.61 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surpassing its previous record of ₦20.1 billion achieved in September 2025, barely months after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the Customs Area Controller (CAC).
The latest feat was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman, on behalf of the CAC.
The record comes barely weeks after the Apapa Area Command posted another unprecedented performance, generating ₦323 billion in revenue in July 2026.
According to Sulaiman, the sustained revenue growth reflects the impact of ongoing reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and increasing efficiency in digital Customs processes.
Oshoba said the record should not be viewed merely as a financial achievement, stressing that the revenue generated by the NCS contributes directly to the economic wellbeing and development of Nigerians.
He noted that funds generated by the Service form part of government resources used to finance critical public priorities, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other essential services.
The CAC dedicated the milestone to the Federal Government and Nigerians, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at making Customs operations more efficient, transparent and business-friendly.
Oshoba also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders whose cooperation, he said, had helped the Command achieve the feat.
He equally commended patriotic Nigerians who have continued to provide actionable intelligence to the Service, stressing that every compliant transaction contributes to national development.
The Customs boss urged stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade, arguing that a stronger revenue base would give government greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens and create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
However, Oshoba warned officers and men of the Command against complacency, charging them to regard the new revenue record as a greater responsibility to improve their performance.
He stressed that revenue collection must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.
The CAC also directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily hinder lawful businesses.
Sulaiman said the Apapa Area Command remains committed to sustaining the momentum through enhanced revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger stakeholder collaboration.
He quoted Oshoba as stressing that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s capacity to deliver on its development priorities and ultimately improve the lives of Nigerians.
