INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Adeleke, Adewusi After Osun Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented Certificates of Return to Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and his deputy, Kola Adewusi, following their victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The certificates were presented on Wednesday at the INEC State Headquarters in Osogbo by the National Commissioner supervising Osun State, Professor Yinka Ajayi.

The presentation formally affirmed Adeleke and Adewusi as Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect respectively, paving the way for their inauguration for another term in office.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of political parties, security agencies, civil society organisations, election observers and members of the media.

With the presentation, INEC formally completed another major stage of the electoral process following the successful conduct of the governorship poll across the state.

Adeleke’s victory secured him another term in office after he emerged victorious in the closely contested election, defeating his major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.

The presentation of the certificates now clears the way for the swearing-in of Adeleke and Adewusi for their next tenure.
