Singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has defended his decision to walk out of his celebrity boxing rematch against actor Charles Okocha, alleging he was bitten and choked during the contest before he was eventually disqualified.
Speaking in a video posted on his Instagram page on Saturday, hours after Friday night’s bout at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, the “Zazoo Zeh” crooner displayed marks on his back and body, claiming Okocha abandoned boxing for wrestling and attacked him unfairly.
“They said he eats Molly. He didn’t see Molly anymore. So he ate my back,” Portable said while showing what he described as bite marks.
The singer further alleged that Okocha bit him during the fight despite receiving heavy punches.
“Man, he bit me. I landed a heavy hit on him,” he said.
Insisting that he was the better fighter, Portable claimed he dominated the opening exchanges before the bout descended into a physical struggle.
“Normally, I beat him up. Man to man, one man is tougher than another. I dealt him a huge blow,” he stated.
Explaining why he left the ring, Portable said the alleged bite and chokehold convinced him to abandon the contest, adding that his music career was worth more than the prize money.
“He bit me, number one. He choked my neck. Camera it. That’s why I say I don’t fight again. I’m big! I’m bigger than the money! I’m a star!” he declared.
Portable also insisted he fulfilled his promise to land 10 punches on Okocha.
“I wore one-round cloth to the bout. I wanted to beat him in one round,” he added.
The celebrity bout, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was organised as a rematch of their controversial first encounter, which Portable won but Okocha claimed was unfairly decided.
The rematch took a dramatic turn when both men became locked in a wrestling-like scuffle, forcing the referee and security personnel to intervene. Although Portable later returned to the ring after walking away, officials disqualified him for leaving before the end of the opening round, handing victory to Okocha.
Before the contest, Portable had expressed confidence of another victory, telling reporters: “I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family.”
His disqualification marked a reversal from their first meeting, where he emerged victorious and had confidently declared himself the superior fighter ahead of the rematch.
