Why Suspected Fake PFIPC DG Missed Reps Hearing — IGP

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has explained that the alleged self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, could not appear before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee because he remains in custody under a valid court order.

The explanation was contained in a letter read on Wednesday by the committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, after Adeniyi failed to honour lawmakers’ summons.

According to Gagdi, the police said Adeniyi is being investigated for alleged conspiracy and forgery and cannot be released while the court’s remand order remains in force.

“The man is in custody because of a standing court order. For him to appear before the committee, that order must first be vacated,” Gagdi said.

He stressed that the committee would not interfere with ongoing police investigations or judicial proceedings, adding that lawmakers only made the letter public to clarify that Adeniyi did not deliberately ignore the summons.

The committee is investigating how the alleged PFIPC secured office space at the Federal Secretariat and received a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act despite claims that the agency was never legally established.

Gagdi added that the panel would continue engaging the police and other security agencies as it finalises its report on the matter.
