Leadway Assurance has entered into a strategic partnership with Insurtainment in a major push to expand insurance adoption across Nigeria’s fast-growing entertainment and creative industry, as stakeholders seek to protect billions of dollars in investments within the sector.

The collaboration was formally launched at the Insurtainment Policy & Industry Forum 2026, a high-level roundtable held on July 14, where key players from the film, music, television, gig economy, insurance industry, regulatory agencies and government gathered to discuss practical risk protection solutions for the creative ecosystem.

The partnership is expected to foster sustained engagement between both organisations, deepen insurance awareness, promote product innovation and encourage wider adoption of insurance solutions tailored to the unique needs of Nigeria’s creative economy.

Speaking on the initiative, the Managing Director of Leadway Assurance, Gboyega Lesi, described the partnership as a strategic investment in one of the country’s most dynamic economic sectors.

He noted that with Nigeria’s entertainment and media industry projected to generate nearly $4.9 billion in revenue in 2026, insurance must become a critical pillar for sustaining growth and attracting investment.

“As the industry continues to evolve, insurance must be positioned as a strategic enabler of growth and innovation by protecting the people, productions and businesses that matter,” Lesi said.

He added that collaboration between insurers, policymakers and creative professionals would produce practical solutions capable of giving creators, investors and businesses the confidence to pursue bigger opportunities while protecting the value they create.

Also speaking at the forum, Head of Commercial (B2B) at Leadway Assurance, Olawale Alao, said Nigeria’s creative economy remains one of the country’s strongest tools for economic diversification, job creation and global competitiveness.

He argued that insurance should no longer be viewed merely as a compliance requirement but as a catalyst for industry growth.

“For too long, insurance has been treated as a formality—a box ticked or a claim filed after the damage is done. At Leadway, we take a different view. Insurance is what gives the creative economy the confidence to scale, and where value is protected, capital follows,” Alao stated.

Leadway said the partnership reinforces its broader strategy to deepen insurance inclusion by developing innovative, fit-for-purpose products that protect creative professionals, entrepreneurs, talent and businesses while supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic development.
