The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a fresh public health alert warning Nigerians against the use of WAP Sensual Enhancement Capsules, following the discovery of dangerous undeclared pharmaceutical ingredients capable of causing life-threatening health complications.
In Public Alert No. 31/2026, the agency disclosed that it received notification that Best Supplements Best Prices Company had voluntarily recalled all batches of the sexual enhancement product after laboratory tests conducted by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) detected hidden prescription drugs not declared on the product label.
According to NAFDAC, the US FDA’s analysis found that the capsules contained sildenafil, tadalafil and flibanserin—powerful prescription-only pharmaceutical ingredients commonly used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and low sexual desire in women.
The agency warned that consumers were completely unaware that these substances were present in the product, exposing users to potentially serious health risks.
NAFDAC explained that sildenafil and tadalafil belong to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors and are approved only for prescription use in treating erectile dysfunction.
It cautioned that the hidden ingredients could interact dangerously with nitrate-containing medications, including nitroglycerin, commonly taken by people suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
According to the agency, such interactions may trigger a sudden and potentially fatal drop in blood pressure.
The regulator also raised concerns over the presence of flibanserin, an active ingredient approved for treating low sexual desire in women, warning that it can cause severe drowsiness, excessive sedation, dangerously low blood pressure and fainting, particularly when taken with alcohol.
NAFDAC identified the affected product as WAP Sensual Enhancement Capsules, manufactured by Best Supplements Best Prices Company, noting that all production lots are affected by the recall.
The agency added that the product’s country of origin remains unknown but is marketed and distributed online in the United States through the eBay platform.
As part of efforts to safeguard public health, NAFDAC urged consumers and healthcare professionals to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspected sale or use of compromised medicines or medical devices.
The agency advised members of the public to report such products to the nearest NAFDAC office, call its toll-free line 0800-162-3322, or send reports via email to sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians from unsafe and unregistered health products, urging consumers to exercise caution when purchasing supplements, particularly those sold through online platforms.
