Oyebanji Floors Rivals At Fayose’s Polling Unit, PDP Gets Four Votes

Governor Biodun Oyebanji tightened his grip on the Ekiti governorship race on Saturday, posting a commanding victory at the polling unit of former governor Ayodele Fayose in Afao-Ekiti.

Results from Polling Unit 001, St. David’s Primary School/Maternity Area, Afao-Ekiti, in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, showed Oyebanji polling 448 votes out of 493 valid ballots cast.

The ADC candidate, Dare Bejide, came a distant second with 37 votes, while the PDP candidate, Wole Oluyede, secured four votes, the same number recorded by the ADP. Seven ballots were rejected.

INEC figures indicated that 538 voters were accredited from a total of 931 registered voters at the polling unit located in Afao-Ekiti, Fayose’s hometown and a politically significant base in the state.

The result was endorsed by polling officials and party agents as collation of results continued across Ekiti State.
