Army Rescues Five Kidnap Victims During Kogi Operation

The Nigerian Army has rescued five kidnapped persons in Kogi State after their captors reportedly abandoned them while fleeing sustained military operations in the area.

In a statement on Wednesday, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, said troops of the Forward Operating Base, Oshokoshoko, made the rescue during a blocking operation along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route in the Adankolo Forest.

The operation followed intensified air and ground offensives against terrorist camps in the forest.

According to the Army, the kidnappers fled their hideouts under pressure from ongoing military actions, leaving the victims behind as they dispersed to evade arrest.

The rescued victims have since regained their freedom, while efforts continue to track down the fleeing suspects.
