Adelabu Dismisses SDP Defection Rumours, Reaffirms APC Loyalty

Adebayo Adelabu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has dismissed reports linking him with a planned defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

Speaking on his behalf, aide Femi Awogboro said Adelabu remains a loyal member of the APC and has no intention of leaving the party.

Awogboro argued that reports of a defection were baseless, noting that the APC governorship primary process had not been concluded and no official result had been declared.

He accused the promoters of the rumour of seeking political relevance by exploiting Adelabu’s name and growing popularity, stressing that the former minister’s political ambition was not driven by desperation.

The aide also demanded an immediate retraction and apology from those behind the reports, warning that Adelabu’s legal team was reviewing the matter and could take legal action if the claims persist.

He reaffirmed Adelabu’s commitment to the APC and his focus on advancing his vision for Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
