Omokri Reacts To Davido’s ‘Umu Bingo’ Remark

Former presidential aide and ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has responded after singer Davido referred to him as “Bingo” in a heated social media exchange.

Omokri had earlier attributed delays in his resumption as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico to the ongoing World Cup. Davido responded sharply, mocking him in a trending post.

In response, Omokri described Davido’s comment as “feedback” but said he was shocked by the insult. He shared screenshots of the post on Instagram, addressing the singer directly.

He criticised Davido for what he described as inappropriate language, noting that public figures should maintain decorum, especially on global platforms.

Omokri also suggested that his earlier criticism of Davido’s use of a customised jacket bearing the names of abducted Oyo schoolchildren at a World Cup-related event may have triggered the singer’s reaction.

He argued that such actions risk amplifying terrorist propaganda, while contrasting it with other international figures he said used the same platform to promote Nigeria positively.

The exchange has sparked further debate online, adding to ongoing tensions between both public figures over national messaging and public advocacy.
