A community-led security operation in Ugbokolo, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, has resulted in the rescue of several kidnap victims and the arrest of three suspected abductors.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday along the Ugbokolo–Aokpe Road, prompting local youths to organise a search and rescue mission after news of the incident spread within the community.
According to residents, the operation led to the safe recovery of the victims and the apprehension of three suspects believed to be connected to the abduction.
The identities of the rescued victims and arrested suspects were not immediately disclosed.
A relative of one of the victims alleged that the suspects were of Fulani origin, although authorities have yet to verify the claim.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, could not be reached at the time of filing the report.
The incident underscores persistent security concerns on some rural roads in Benue State and highlights growing community involvement in local security efforts.
