Peter Obi Gets NDC Nod To Contest 2027 Presidential Primary

Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has been cleared by the Nigeria Democratic Congress to contest its presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party’s screening committee chairman, Sam Egwu, announced Obi’s clearance on Wednesday, saying he met all constitutional and statutory requirements to participate in the primary.

The screening, held in Abuja on Tuesday, reportedly lasted over two hours, during which Obi’s credentials and vision for Nigeria were reviewed.

Reacting, Obi described the process as credible and transparent, commending the committee and party leadership for upholding internal democracy.

With the clearance, Obi remains the sole presidential aspirant of the NDC after the party closed the sale of presidential nomination forms, while extending deadlines for other elective offices.
