Chelsea Move For Former Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso

Chelsea are reportedly set to appoint former Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso as their new manager, just four months after his dismissal by the Spanish club.

According to reports, Alonso has reached an agreement in principle with Chelsea F.C. and could take charge before Tuesday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur F.C..

The 44-year-old previously guided Bayer 04 Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title during an unbeaten 2023/24 campaign. However, his stint at Real Madrid CF lasted only seven months.

If confirmed, Alonso would become Chelsea’s fifth permanent manager since BlueCo took over in 2022, following spells by Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior. Chelsea currently sit ninth in the Premier League and face the prospect of missing European football next season.
