Immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has clarified that he secured the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before resigning from the Federal Executive Council.

Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State under the All Progressives Congress, dismissed reports suggesting he failed to consult the President prior to his exit.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Femi Awogboro, the former minister described the claims as false and misleading.

“Adelabu actually obtained the full approval and blessing of President Tinubu before taking the decision to resign. Those spreading false speculations should desist, such claims are baseless,” the statement read.

He further suggested that critics were unsettled by the large turnout that greeted his return to Ibadan, noting that the reception reflected growing support for his political ambition.

Adelabu maintained that his decision to resign was in line with due process and aimed at allowing him fully focus on the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
