11 Killed, Dozens Of Homes Razed In Nasarawa Clash

At least 11 people have been killed and about 50 houses destroyed following renewed clashes between residents of Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities in Nasarawa State.

The violence, which erupted in the early hours of Friday in Nasarawa Local Government Area, has been linked to a suspected reprisal attack after the alleged killing of two individuals.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel said the attack left widespread devastation across both communities.

“In the course of the attack, 11 persons were killed, while about 50 houses were burnt in Akyawa and two houses in Udege Kasa,” he stated.

Following the killings, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, visited the affected areas, expressing sympathy to victims and vowing justice.

Police say an intensive manhunt has been launched for those responsible, with additional security personnel deployed in collaboration with the military and other agencies to restore order.

Despite official assurances, residents report growing fear, citing repeated attacks in nearby communities and warning that insecurity is worsening in the area.
