Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday swore in five commissioners approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly to join his cabinet.
Speaking at the ceremony at Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor described the Assembly’s screening process as rigorous and expressed confidence in the competence of the new appointees.
Fubara said the commissioners demonstrated readiness for the responsibilities of their offices and urged them to serve in the best interest of the state.
The newly inaugurated commissioners are Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amairigha Edward Hart.
The governor did not comment on the four other nominees who were rejected by the Assembly over discrepancies related to tax and other issues. The initial list submitted to the House, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, contained nine nominees, with five eventually approved.
