Crayon Cuts Dread In Emotional Tribute To Late Mother

Afrobeats singer Crayon has paid an emotional tribute to his late mother, Evelyn Chukwu, on what would have been her birthday, honoring her memory through a traditional rite.

The Mavin Records artiste shared photos on social media showing his freshly shaved head, explaining that as the firstborn son, he cut his hair in line with family tradition as a mark of love and respect.

In a heartfelt message, Crayon described the day as difficult, saying he misses his mother deeply and promised to make her proud. He added that navigating life without her has been a major challenge.

Evelyn Chukwu died unexpectedly in July 2025, days before Crayon’s birthday, an experience the singer previously described as the darkest moment of his life. She was laid to rest in October 2025.
