ADC Divided Over Obi’s Reported Registration In Enugu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been thrown into internal disagreement following reports that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi registered with the party in Enugu.

A faction of the party led by National Chairman Nafiu Gombe on Thursday disowned the reported registration, saying it violated the ADC’s constitution.

Gombe said membership registration is only valid at the ward level and that the party does not recognise registrations at zonal or national offices.

He described Obi’s alleged registration at the Enugu zonal office as “irregular and invalid,” adding that the party was investigating the breach and urging the public to disregard such claims.

The clarification came after Obi announced his defection to the ADC in Enugu, and a day after the Julius Abure-led Labour Party leadership described the move as a “liberation.”
