Nigeria-US Tensions Largely Settled — Information Minister

The Federal Government said on Monday that recent diplomatic tensions with the United States, sparked by former President Donald Trump’s threats over alleged killings of Christians, have been largely resolved.

Information Minister Mohammed Idris said the resolution came through “firm, respectful engagement” that strengthened Nigeria-US relations.

He clarified that Nigeria rejects framing its complex conflicts as purely religious, noting both Muslims and Christians are affected by banditry, jihadist attacks, and farmer-herder clashes.

Idris also highlighted a $2.1 billion US aid deal, emphasizing that all Nigerians would benefit, including support for faith-based health providers.
