Abuja-Kaduna Train Services Suspended After Derailment

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended operations on the Abuja-Kaduna route following Sunday’s derailment.

Managing Director Kayode Opeifa said services will remain halted until investigations are completed and safety guaranteed. 

He confirmed that six passengers sustained minor injuries and have received treatment, while refunds were issued to affected travelers.

Technical teams from the NRC, the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), and other agencies are probing the cause of the incident. Opeifa dismissed claims of poor maintenance, insisting the corporation adheres to safety standards.

The NSIB has formally opened an investigation as authorities move to restore safe rail services on the corridor.
