UNIZIK Student Dies After Jumping from Lodge Balcony

Tragedy struck late Thursday near Royal Kitchen Junction, Ifite-Awka, Anambra State, when a male student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) jumped from a three-storey lodge and died.

Eyewitnesses said the student, whose name is being withheld, allegedly consumed a substance suspected to be mkpurummiri before leaping from the balcony. Despite efforts to save him, he was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.

Shocked residents later found his roommate in an incoherent state, also believed to be under the influence. The roommate is now in custody and will be questioned once stable.

UNIZIK Chief Safety Officer, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident occurred at a private lodge outside the university and said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances.
