Fubara Denies Alleged Visit By Obasanjo, PANDEF Delegation

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited him at Government House, Port Harcourt, over the weekend.

In a statement issued by Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Tuesday, the governor described the claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.

The statement read:“For the avoidance of doubt, there was no visit by any delegation from PANDEF to Governor Fubara on the said date, neither did Chief Olusegun Obasanjo visit him, as falsely claimed by certain detractors.”

Fubara’s media aide further described the viral reports as a deliberate attempt by “enemies of the state” to mislead the public and disrupt the peace, governance, and development efforts of the administration.

The statement also addressed the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, affirming the governor’s commitment to fully implementing the Supreme Court’s judgment on the state’s political crisis.

“Governor Fubara has made it abundantly clear that he will comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling. He has already initiated steps to ensure its implementation, but the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to cooperate to facilitate the resolution of all issues raised by the court,” the statement added.

Despite the legislature’s resistance, the governor reaffirmed his readiness to work towards a peaceful resolution and ensure smooth governance in the state.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard false narratives, emphasizing that Fubara remains focused on governance and the welfare of the people of Rivers State.
