An explosion has struck the Trans-Niger Pipeline at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, sparking a major fire.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown, but authorities are investigating possible human interference, especially amid recent threats by militant groups over the Federal Government’s withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
The blast occurred Monday night along the critical export pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.
Officials have yet to confirm the extent of the damage or any potential casualties.
