Drama In Senate As Senator Natasha Disrupts Plenary Over Seat Change

A dramatic scene unfolded in the Senate on Thursday as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central grounded proceedings over an abrupt change of her seat without prior notice.

The plenary, presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was progressing smoothly until the Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, raised a point of order. 

He drew the Senate’s attention to what he described as “Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s improper seating position.”

Before Monguno could finish his statement, chaos erupted. 

Senator Natasha, visibly angered, engaged in a heated exchange, demanding an explanation for the unexplained change in her designated seat.

The tension escalated as she refused to back down, leading to an intervention by the Sergeant-at-Arms, who attempted to escort her from the chamber.

Despite Senate President Akpabio’s repeated calls for calm, the female lawmaker remained defiant, insisting on answers. 

“Why was my seat changed without my consent?” she demanded, her voice ringing across the chamber.

The situation grew so intense that the public address system had to be shut down before order was finally restored.

This unexpected clash adds to the growing tensions within the upper legislative chamber, raising questions about internal parliamentary dynamics and the treatment of lawmakers.
